What is an 0800 number?
0800 numbers are from a special class of numbers called Non Geographic Numbers. NGN numbers are virtual numbers and allow you to direct a customer’s call to various other landline or mobile numbers. The caller pays nothing to call an 0800 number it is a FREEPHONE number provided they are calling from a UK landline. The owner of the 0800 number pays to receive calls per minute.
What are the advantages of having an 0800 number?
0800 numbers are great for marketing campaigns. A customer is more likely to call you if it is going to be free for them to do so. 0800 or 0808 numbers are widely recognised by the public and so they are happy to call them. 0800 numbers also give you a national company image and professional inbound call handling solution irrespective of your phone lines/system/size or location.
How does an 0800 number work?
When a customer calls your 0800 number it will route calls to you lines/numbers. The customer will not know where the call is being routed and with a good call plan you should never miss another call.
Is it easy to set up a 0800 number?
Yes. Once you have confirmed which number you would like, the 0800 number can be put live straight away.
Is there a set up fee for this service?
Not usually, 08UK try to offer this service with no set up fee - wherever possible.
Will I receive a monthly bill for my 0800 number?
Yes, you receive a bill for the amount of minutes you use. There is also a monthly minimum charge of £15/month which includes minutes/month.
Am I tied to a contract?
In general our terms are 30 day rolling so 30 days notice is all we require to cancel your number and close your account.
Do I have to pay for my 0800 number?
Not always no, we offer a large range of 0800 numbers totally for free, however, we do have gold 0800 numbers (memorable 0800 numbers) or platinum 0800 numbers available and there is a charge for these. Please call 08444 939 444 for more information.
I work in different locations. Can I change where my 0800 number points to?
Yes. The destination can be changed as many times as you require, this can also be done straight away by 08UK operations team or by web portal access.
Can anyone call my 0800 number from anywhere in the UK?
Yes, absolutely. Calls from mobiles are not free so credit would be required to make an 0800 call from a mobile even on a pay-as-you-go handset.
Can I have access online to change where my number is pointed to?
Yes, we can offer this as part of our service if required. From this online portal you can also see statistics of how many calls you have received. We also offer to make changes for you, free of charge all you need to do is call us or email during normal working hours.
